Mozambique is undeniably one Africa’s most romantic destinations.. An old-soul country where history, culture, wildlife and the soothing sounds of the Indian Ocean make Mozambique a one-stop-shop destination – ideal for seasoned safari-goers to the scuba diving experts alike.
Our Safari Specialist, Lucy, spent her Easter break exploring the Bazaruto Archipelago. An idyllic chain of islands home to a fascinating underwater world, full of turtles, parrot fish, dolphins and more, as well luxury beach-front lodges interspersed on the islands.
Notably, the dugongs of Bazaruto are endemic to these idyllic islands – these gentle megafauna grace the waters with their presence,
From Robinson Crusoe style accommodation to high-end lux lodges, there’s plenty of R&R options to suit all our travellers. Lucy stopped by to visit Santorini Mozambique, one of our fav’s in the area. Picture white-washed walls, endless views across the Indian Ocean, al fresco dining and friendly staff on hand. The new 4-bed family villa will be opening in the next 2 months and will be perfect for multi-generational families travelling together.
While Mozambique isn’t a destination which immediately comes to mind when you think of safaris in Africa – that all will change in the near future. Gorongosa National Park is Africa’s greatest wildlife restoration project – a 3 million hectare park which is a true wilderness area reborn, freeing itself from conflicts of the past and has, over the past 20 years, been undergoing an intensive rewilding and officially opened its doors to tourism on the 1st April. Muzimu Lodge located inside the park has already made the Safari Awards shortlist for ‘Best Value Safari Property’.
