Tusk and Mane

Overview

  • Tusk and Mane offer flexible safaris between three fly camps, right in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Tafara Springs is located in the Rufunsa Valley at the foot of the escarpment. Kulefu Island and Chula Island are tucked away on remote islands in the prime game viewing area near Jeki airfield.
  • Chula means ‘frog’ in Goba – the local language in this part of Zambia. This island is full of surprises; with hidden lagoons and open dambos. Wildlife here is unbelievable with leopard, lion, hyena, buffalo herds and lots of elephants right on your doorstep.
  • Kutali Camp, which is situated on Kulefu Island, is the perfect contrast to Chula. Kutali is your classic winter-thorn forest Zambezi Valley camp, whilst Kulefu Island offers excellent possibilities for canoeing and walking safaris and is just a river crossing away from the mainland for game drives.
  • The full Tusk and Mane fly camp experience can be booked exclusively on a private use basis – eight beds, two vehicles, three boats and six canoes – the whole team and camp just for you. The perfect tailored safari if you ask us!
  • Each of the camps has a well stocked bar and seating area under canvas and en-suite bathrooms. The fly camps are lightweight and are a textbook example of how light wilderness luxury can be.
